"When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12 NIV)
In my senior year of college, I felt this urge to write down and document all the incredible things God had done (and was doing) in my life. And so, the summer after I graduated from college, my brainchild, “Living in Light” was born. Living in Light is a place where I plan to share my reflections on my faith journey, practical advice from my pre-med experience, and more. This is an ever-evolving project, and will surely change and grow as time progresses and my season in life changes. My prayer and hope is for this website to serve as encouragement to believers, or even those just exploring the Christian faith to be the “light and salt of this world.”
Light represents several things: Jesus calls himself the light of the world and promises that those who follow him will never “walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light to my path.” Light therefore represents Jesus, God’s word through scripture, as well as an overcoming of darkness. The name “Living in Light,” references the way in which born-again believers are no longer walking in their former darkness—or as slaves to sin and this world, but in God’s light by following Jesus and holding fast to God’s word. “Living in Light” also has a dual meaning of living in light of God’s truth, or living with the full knowledge of truth through scripture.
